Faith in Action is a community service project sponsored by Tomball Methodist Church inviting all area churches to participate in improving our community and lives of our neighbors.

Off-Site Work Projects

Construction Coordinators: Tom Huber & Henry Reid. All day Saturday & Sunday. Work may Include: scraping & painting, cleaning out gutters, power washing, tree trimming, general handyman repair work, cleaning up yards, carpentry/framing, roofing, sheetrock demolition and replacing, flooring/laying tile, plumbing, constructing wheelchair ramps, etc. All ages are welcome, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. There will be a site specifically for kids and one for youth.

Care for Nursing Home

Team Leader: Mary Collier. Saturday only 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Make cards for residents at area nursing home. Learn simple songs to share with residents at area nursing home. Visit with residents, take gifts (cards & songs), and play games with residents at area nursing home. All ages are welcome. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

Work Site for Youth

Team Leaders: Randi Lanum. Saturday & Sunday all day. We will have work-sites specifically for youth. If you have experience such as UM Army, please be sure that you indicate this on your registration form. All youth are welcome.

Homebound Meal Preparation & Delivery

Team Leader: Pat Lawson (Live Wires Sunday Connect Group). Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Prepare and take lunch to the homebound members of the churches serving. Appointments will be made at 11:30 am and 1:00 pm each day. Teams of two people are needed for each delivery. Need people to help make specific meals for this team – recipes will be provided. Ages: Driving teens and adults only please.

Work Site for Children

Team Leader: Lisa Solomon. Saturday only 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Work-site for children which may include simple yard work. All ages are welcome. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

Sewing Projects for the Community

Team Leader: Andrea Thompson.  All day Saturday & Sunday. We will be working with two amazing organizations in Tomball – Moses Closet and Tomball Pregnancy Center.  For Moses’ Closet, an organization that works with children in foster care, we will be making duffle bags.  As the children often present with all their belongings in a garbage bag.  For Tomball Pregnancy Center we will be making baby blankets and burp clothes for them to provide to the new moms who are going through their programs and deciding to keep their babies.  Beginner sewing abilities are welcome. Ages: No children under the age of 12. All children must have sewing experience to participate. All children must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

Tomball Community Garden

Team leader: Dale Reid. Sunday PM only 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Planting, weeding, & fertilizing in the community   garden. Learning the importance of butterflies to the eco-system of Tomball Community Garden. All ages are welcome – this will be a kid friendly site. All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

Kitchen Crew

Team Leader: Jane Tank.  Saturday 6:00 am – 10:00 am, Sunday 6:00 am – 10:00 am. Prepare and serve breakfast for work teams. All ages are welcome, no children under the age of 12.  All children must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

Operation Gratitude

Team leaders: Frank & Emma Johnson.  Sunday only 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Making paracord bracelets and tie scarves for our military. Packing care packages for our military based on the needs identified by Operation Gratitude.   Ages: No children under the age of 12.  All children must be accompanied by a parent/adult.

  • Single Serving instant coffee packets

  • Individually packaged wipes

Care for First Responders

Team Leaders: Michael & Sharon Luczak. Sunday Only 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Make cards of appreciation for first responders. Learn a little about what the first responders do in our community. Prepare and deliver care packages to the stations in our community. All ages are welcome. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent/adult.
