More about the concert from Houston Bronze Ensemble: Handbells in December immediately conjure the mood of Christmas! Add to it a whiff of an evergreen tree that shimmers with light and you’ll be swept into the season faster than you can say, ‘Ho, ho, ho.’ Even the air feels crisper when you hear familiar carols ringing in sacred spaces. Houston Bronze Ensemble is pulling out all the stops this year for our Yuletide Celebration – literally! Celebrated organist, Stephen Distad, will be joining us for a weekend of concerts entitled “I Heard the Bells” that will showcase the magnificent pipe organs of three churches in various regions of Houston. You’ll hear virtuosic arrangements of Christmas classics such as “The Nutcracker” and “Angels from the Realms of Glory” in addition to moments of breathtaking tenderness in pieces such as “Away in a Manger” and “Come, Emmanuel.”
All performances are free to the public, no ticket is required, a free-will offering will be taken to defray the costs of the concert. Please come. Donate if you can. And bring friends!
Merry Christmas!
